… OFFICIAL NVHC PET POLICY: In general, pets are welcome on NVHC hikes as long as they are well behaved and kept under control at all times.  Dogs should be current on rabies vaccination, wear identification, and be kept on a standard 6-8 foot leash.  Please contact the hike leader in advance if you intend to bring a pet because pets are not permitted on some trails.  All pooper scooper laws must be obeyed.  Remember to bring water for your pet.

The old saying goes, if your dog is over-weight, you are not getting enough exercise. We are excited to meet with other local active, and not so active, dog owners who are interested in running (or walking) with their dog for general fitness or to lose a couple extra pounds (both you and your dog). I decided we needed a walking group for 50+ adults who enjoy walking for aerobic exercise at different scenic locations throughout the DC area on the weekend. (Friendly dogs [with owners who pick up after them] who enjoy walking along with their owners are also welcome.) The goals are good exercise and making connections with others who enjoy walking. It's more fun to walk with a friend than to walk alone. The walks will be two to three hours on non-strenuous terrain.
